The molding of clay into the human form is a meditative, all-engrossing experience that encourages pondering the frailty of life and our mortality. Shaping the figure inspired me to explore unusual surface textures and finishes. It drove to explore the works of the masters at museums to see what they could shape with their hands. It brings a sense of longer life with each form, like giving birth.
